Local Breathtaking Hikes
Cascades Falls.
A easy favorite, this 4 mile round trip hike ends in a beautiful waterfall that is great for families and those wanting to take it easy.
McAfee’s Knob.
For those seeking a challenge and a panoramic vista, McAfee’s Knob is one of the most photographed and hiked trail in the area.
Dragon’s Tooth.
This trail is for those who like a scramble. There are many uphill sections and rock scrambles with breaks to see the beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Angel’s Rest.
This trail is mostly uphill all the way but you will be rewarded with amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the New River from the mountain top.

Local Activities
Tubing on the New River.
The river will draw you, gently and peacefully, as you float over small riffles in your tube. About a mile down stream the rapids are splashing. Ride the rapids a few times then visit Big Falls Park, where the park grills will be hot and ready for cooking.
Claytor Lake.
The 4,500-acre lake is the best part of the park with a beach swimming area and dive tower, plentiful fishing and four miles of hiking and biking trails.
New River Fishing
New River Trips offers guided fishing trips on the New River. We mainly catch smallmouth bass; some walleye and muskie. A variety of trips available and family friendly.
Ride-A-Rescue.
Ride-A-Rescue horseback riding program was started to help support our rescue horses as part of their rehabilitation. Ride-A-Rescue trail rides use only healthy, rested rescue horses eager and ready to work. This is a fun community activity that provides rescues with a job and sense of purpose!
Lyric Theater
The Lyric is a unique, small local theater that features blockbuster movies as well as local events. This small, old fashioned theater is a favorite spot among locals.
